Volkswagen India is a manufacturing and sales company in India that deals with Volkswagen cars. There are two groups of companies under this and they include Volkswagen India Private Limited and Volkswagen Group Sales India Private Limited which is known by VGSI Private Limited. Both of the group companies are the subsidiaries of the Volkswagen AG. This company was first started in the year 1937 and at present it is one of the largest carmaker in Europe.

The branded cars of Volkswagen India are manufactured in a manufacturing plant located near Pune. The other brands of car that are manufactured by this Volkswagen India include Audi and Skoda and for which a manufacturing and assembly plant has been operated in Aurangabad. The following are the variety of car models that are manufactured and sold by Volkswagen India. They are Jetta, Passat, and Touareg etc.

In India, the various models of Audi type of vehicles that are assembled and sold by Volkswagen India are Audi A4, Audi Q5, Audi A6, Audi Q7, Audi A8, Audi TT, and Audi R8. The type of Skoda vehicles that are sold in our country are Superb, Laura, Octavia, Fabia etc. Volkswagen India launched a project for manufacturing a new passenger car in Pune. The production unit per year for this project is around 110000 units. Thro’ this project, most modern and fuel efficient power train technology has been planned to be introduced in India.

Volkswagen India has estimated the total cost of this project to be EUR 580 million and the EIB has proposed to provide financial support of around EUR 100 million. Volkswagen India has planned to complete the project that does not involve any environmental aspects. The first step on this project would be to produce vehicles according to the market. Additionally, a first class dealer network has been planned to set up in India in order to receive high level of satisfaction from its customers.
